Initial situation
As pioneers of digital identity in Switzerland, the Canton of Schaffhausen and the City of Zug rose to the challenge of demonstrating and testing the interoperability of their electronic identity systems (eID+) and (eZug). The aim was to enable seamless integration into existing and new use cases such as electronic building application and the booking of coworking workspaces.
Use of our solution
A proof-of-concept (PoC) was initiated to test the technical feasibility and practical applicability of interoperable digital identities. The PoC team relied on a flexible architecture that allowed the different eID systems to be connected to the specific applications. This included integration into the platforms for electronic building applications and the reservation systems for co-working workstations.
Result
The proof-of-concept was successful and showed that the digital identities of the Canton of Schaffhausen and the City of Zug are effectively interoperable. Users were able to seamlessly use their identities across application boundaries to submit building permits and book coworking spaces electronically. This led to a significant reduction in administrative tasks and an improvement in the user experience.
The successful implementation of the PoC represents an important milestone in the digital transformation of public services and provides a solid foundation for the further expansion of digital identities in other areas.
