Swiss e-government provider Procivis has strengthened its Board of Directors with Swiss Liberal Party FDP politician Doris Fiala, strategy expert Huw Evans and cyber security specialist Roger Wirth. In addition, the company has announced the appointment of Achille Deodato as Chief Operating Officer (COO). The newly created position reflects Procivis’ strong growth and will allow the company to further expand its business and promote its electronic identity platform on an international scale.
Doris Fiala, Huw Evans and Roger Wirth join the board of directors
Procivis is further strengthening its expertise by adding three accomplished personalities from politics and the private sector to its board of directors. As per 1 August 2018, Doris Fiala, Huw Evans and Roger Wirth joined the board, which is presided over by Procivis founder Daniel Gasteiger.
Doris Fiala is a Member of the Swiss Parliament who also acts as the Chairwoman of the Swiss Control/Parliamentary Oversight Committee and the President of Swiss FDP Liberals Women. She is a Member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) as well as the Chairwoman of the Migration Refugee & Displaced Persons Committee of PACE and also works as an independent public affairs consultant, specializing in corporate social responsibility as well as risk management.
Doris Fiala has been actively engaged for quite some time in strengthening the position of Zurich and Switzerland as an international blockchain location. In her role as a Member of the Committee on Migration, Refugees and Displaced Persons and delegate of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Doris Fiala is confronted with the emerging relevance of electronic identities on a regular basis.
Huw Evans has extensive experience in leveraging new technologies on a large scale. As COO and Head of Strategic Change for UBS’s global FX business for over 20 years, Huw drove the application of the internet and associated technologies to help UBS become one of the leading FX banks in the world. He chaired the FX Steering Committee of the Global Financial Markets Association and led important FX market initiatives on behalf of the Swiss National Bank and the Bank of England.
Roger Wirth has longstanding experience in information and cyber security, particularly in the heavily regulated field of financial services. As the Head of Information & Cyber Security, he’s been responsible for the IT security of UBS’s wealth management business. By appointing Roger Wirth to the board of directors, Procivis underscores the importance of security for its business.
Achille Deodato joins as Chief Operating Officer
In addition to reinforcing its Board of Directors and corporate governance, Procivis is extending its executive management team with a newly created COO position to support the accelerated expansion of its domestic and international business. Achille Deodato joins the company from the Swiss private banking part of large international conglomerate Hinduja Group, where he last held the position of Chief Commercial Officer and Secretary General. In prior roles, he worked as Chief of Staff to the CEO and Group & Business Control Manager at the same company. Achille Deodato started his professional career at KPMG, then as a consultant with the United Nation’s Food and Agriculture Organisation. He holds an MBA from IMD Business School.
Achille Deodato has joined Procivis at the beginning of July. As the COO and a member of the executive management team, he is responsible for the company’s day-to-day operations and, together with the team, will be driving the further development of Procivis’ eID+ platform. His immediate focus will be on the implementation of eID+ as part of different projects in Switzerland and abroad, such as the eID+ solution for the Swiss Canton of Schaffhausen, and the development of a market-ready e-voting solution based on blockchain technology.
Procivis founder and CEO Daniel Gasteiger said: “The extension of our Board of Directors and the appointment of our COO mark the beginning of a new phase in the development of our business. We’re very pleased to have won a highly experienced leader for Procivis with Achille Deodato. I’m looking forward to realising our ideas for trusted e-government and democratic processes in the age of digitisation together with our new colleagues.”
To fund the planned build-up of its business, Procivis AG has secured interim financing this June and is preparing a capital increase for the second half of 2018.
Procivis is a Swiss venture founded in autumn 2016 by blockchain entrepreneur Daniel Gasteiger. The company offers a secure electronic identity platform, called eID+, to enable trusted e-government services for digital societies.
