Swiss e-government startup Procivis has announced two key new hires to further strengthen the technology and government expertise across its team. Giorgio Zinetti has been appointed Chief Technology Officer and will join the company at the beginning of October. As part of the Procivis leadership team, he will define and implement the company’s technology strategy. Costa Vayenas joins Procivis as Senior Government Consultant with immediate effect to work closely with government clients and advise them on the design and implementation of e-government solutions.
Giorgio Zinetti joins Procivis from UBS, where he led a number of innovation projects within the UBS Wealth Management Innovation Group. Prior to this, he has worked as a software engineer. Giorgio Zinetti holds a Master of Science degree in Computer Engineering from Politecnico di Milano. As the company’s CTO, he will design and implement Procivis’s technology strategy in close collaboration with external technology partners. This includes the buildup of an in-house team of expert blockchain and crypto engineers. In addition to the successful implementation of the Procivis eID+ solution, as part of the recently announced pilot project with the Canton of Schaffhausen, Giorgio Zinetti’s immediate focus will be on the assessment of different blockchain protocols for digital identity and electronic voting services.
Costa Vayenas has previously worked as an analyst for financial institutions in London, New York and Zurich. His recent roles included Head of Research and Head of Credit for the emerging markets at UBS. Costa is a distinguished e-government expert and the author of the recently published book “Democracy in the Digital Age: How we’ll vote and what we’ll vote about”. As a Senior Government Consultant, he joins Procivis on a part-time basis and will work closely with the Procivis advisory board to provide government clients with the latest and most relevant research to advise them on e-government strategy and implementation.
Procivis founder and CEO Daniel Gasteiger said: “We’re excited to welcome Giorgio and Costa to our growing team of experts. They will both play a crucial part in the further development of our venture and significantly strengthen our ability to offer an innovative and trusted e-government platform to clients in Switzerland and across the globe.”
